Not surprisingly, there appears to be a very strong correlation between this factor and academic achievement, because lots of studies have shown that socioeconomic background is the strongest predictor of academic achievement. This factor helps explain the relatively low scores of Culver City and Santa Monica. However, Palo Alto stands out as an example of high achievement despite almost the same percentage of free/reduced price meals as BHUSD.
I am wondering how many of these students reside in our district. Given the level of rents in Beverly Hills, I would guess that many of these students are part of our permit program. I would love to see a staff report about this.
