PH01255G1.GIF (7765 bytes)The key function of a school board is to work with the Superintendent to set realistic goals and to hold people accountable if the goals are not met. The Board will be meeting with Dr. Pellicone and key staff members during February, 1999 to set goals for BHUSD. Below is a discussion draft of our 1999 goals that represents a joint effort of Board Member Allison Okyle and yours truly.

This is merely a draft, and will surely change after we obtain the thoughts of Dr. Pellicone and our fellow Board members.

Another Suggested Area.  Course requirements should be strengthened.  In particular, the percentage

of students that satisfy the UC a-f course requirement (rigorous college preparation courses)

at BHHS should be at least 90% of the graduating students.  We may also want to consider
tougher graduation requirements that more closely approach the difficulty level of the

UC a-f course requirements.
B. Construction Goals.
